StreamPix now supports GPU accelerated real time compression.

Capture from high speed sensors direct to JPEG, H.264 or H.265 compressed video, eliminating the need to use expensive RAID 0 disk array setup.

  • Compress from high speed and high resolution cameras.
  • Compatible with GigE, 10 and 25 GigE, USB3, Camera Link, CoaXPress, SD-SDI and PCIe cameras.
  • Compression can be performed real time during recording, from single or muliple cameras video feed.
  • Compression can also be applied during recording to MP4 or AVI media container.
  • Compression during export as a post recording operation allows to deal with cases where the CPU or GPU is not fast enough to perform the compression real time.

JPEG compression: it requires Nvidia Fermi architecture or newer (Turing, Ampere, Ada...). Depending on the image size and required processing time, the number of shader processor units available on the GPU is important. Most part of the algorithm is performed on the CUDA processors, but the shader processors units are used in the last step of the calculation. A larger number of shader unit mean more pixels per second.

Performance Example:

  • Nvidia RTX4000 ADA: more than 6 billions raw color pixels per second can be compressed.
  • Nvidia RTX2000 : more than 5.8 billions monochrome pixels per second can be compressed.
  • Number of pixels per second calculated as: Camera Image size X * Camera Image size Y * frame rate per second.

    H.264 compression: it can operate on Intel Quicksync, Intel ARC, Nvidia or AMD GPU. Maximum image resolution is hardware dependant, up to 4K+ (4096x4096) pixels resolution nomochrome or color. Multiple video stream can be real time compressed simultaneoulsy.

    H.265 compression: it can operate on Intel Quicksync, Intel ARC, Nvidia or AMD GPU. Maximum image resolution is hardware dependant, up to 8K+ (8192x4096) pixels resolution nomochrome or color. Multiple video stream can be real time compressed simultaneoulsy.
