StreamPix /Line Scan Viewer Plugin.
Record direct to disk from line scan cameras.
StreamPix provides the capability of recording from both line scan and area scan cameras. While recording from line scan has been possible in the past, the new Line Scan Viewer Plugin now gives the user a new display window with options to control how the video is displayed. In the native StreamPix window, a single frame is displayed at a time. It is then overwritten when a new image is received from the camera. While very effective for area scan cameras, the video from line scan cameras needs to be handled differently when vertical height is too short and/or the data rate is too fast for the human eye to discern the image. The following image shows an example of this. The 1024 pixel line scan camera is captured with five lines per image (1024 x 5).
The Line Scan Viewer Plugin resolves this issue by allowing the user to set the frame height as low as they desire for capture but combine previous frames with the current one for display. The following image shows the same settings displayed by the Line Scan Viewer Plugin.
Another feature of the Line Scan Viewer Plugin is the option to change the display direction. The orientation of the camera in relation to the subject movement will determine whether the image is viewed correctly or inverted. In the above picture, to properly display the image, the display was changed by the click of a button to cascade from bottom to top. The previously inverted image is now displayed correctly. As each new frame is received it is inverted and placed at the bottom of the image. Previous frames are shifted upwards one position and the oldest fame is dropped.
Other conveniences of the Line Scan Viewer Plugin in include time stamp, VCR type display controls and Zoom features. The time stamp is displayed to the left of the image in either absolute time or a time relative to start of capture. The VCR controls provide a step by step for fast forward/reverse function to review the captured sequence. The zoom feature enables users to zoom in or zoom out to suit their needs. A reset button returns the view to a 1:1 ratio.
